Leaders Are Reliable
At AKF Martial Arts Academy, we go beyond teaching kicks and punches—we focus on shaping strong leaders with powerful life skills. One of the core life skills we emphasize is Humility, and each week, we explore a key leadership pillar that supports it.
This week’s pillar: TRUSTWORTHINESS.
How Does Trustworthiness Build Humility?
Humility isn’t about thinking less of yourself—it’s about thinking of others and doing what’s right, even when no one is watching. Trustworthy leaders don’t need the spotlight or praise. They quietly earn respect by staying true to their word, telling the truth, and being dependable in every situation.
What Does It Mean to Be Trustworthy?
Trustworthiness is about consistency. It’s about showing others that they can count on you. When you live with integrity, you naturally earn the trust of those around you—your family, your teammates, your instructors, and your friends.
Here’s how we define trustworthiness at AKF:
- Keep your promises and follow through
- Always tell the truth—even when it’s hard or may lead to consequences.
- Be a good friend by respecting others’ trust
- Do what’s right, even when no one is watching
Trustworthy people are often the first to be asked to lead, help, or represent others—because they’ve proven they can be counted on.
Week #4 Leadership Project
This week, we’re asking our students to reflect on how they’ve demonstrated trustworthiness in different parts of their lives. This self-awareness not only strengthens humility but also deepens relationships with the people who matter most.
I show my trustworthiness at HOME by:
(For example: Admitting mistakes, doing chores without reminders, respecting family rules.)
I show my trustworthiness at SCHOOL by:
(For example: Being honest with teachers, finishing assignments on time, standing up for classmates.)
I show my trustworthiness at the ACADEMY by:
(For example: Listening to instructors, showing respect for others’ equipment, being honest during drills.)
At AKF, trustworthiness isn’t just a weekly lesson—it’s part of our culture. It’s how we build confident leaders who lead with character, stay humble, and make a difference in their community.
